Ham and Cheese Sticks is one of the favorite snack or appetizer recipes of many Filipinos. This is best for kids or even kids-at-heart and it is very simple to prepare. Of course, another benefit of this delicious appetizing dish is that it is as well budget friendly and taste yummy. My family enjoys dipping the ham and cheese sticks in a mixture of tartar sauce. The other sauce option will be the mixture of mayonnaise and a bit of ketchup as an alternative.
Here is the procedure for these delicious Ham and Cheese Sticks
- 1 box of Eden Cheese
- ¼ kilo of Loaf Ham
- 20-30 pieces of Lumpia Wrapper ( small)
- 1 large bell pepper (optional)
- Cooking Oil
- 1 cup of Mayonnaise
- ¼ cup of Nestle Cream
- Salt and Pepper to taste
For the Tartar Sauce:
In a small mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, nestle cream, chopped parsley, right amount of salt and pepper. Mix everything gently and evenly until you complete the perfect dip sauce.
Using a knife and a cutting board, slice the ham, cheese and bell pepper into thin and long strips, then set aside. Next is to separate lumpia wrappers individually to prepare everything in place.
Using a plate, you need to lay a single wrapper to place the ham, cheese and bell pepper in the middle. Fold bottom towards to end of the wrapper over the filling. Next is to fold both side ends of the wrapper inwards and then roll tightly.
You can wet the edge of the wrapper with a dab of water to seal it better if you desire before folding. Repeat the same process with remaining ham, cheese, bell and wrapper until you complete all the sticks.
In a frying pan, pour the cooking oil and make sure the level is at least an inch deep o the pan. Let the oil heat up for a few minutes before deep frying the rolled sticks until golden brown.
Afterwards, strain the fried sticks out of the frying pan and place them in the plate with paper towel to remove the excess oil.
When ready, transfer the Ham and Cheese Sticks in a platter and serve with the tartar sauce.
