They say that the coconut is a “Tree of Life” because everything about it is useful for us. Of course, the most interesting factor about a coconut tree is that it can become a main ingredient to various food choices and refreshing beverages. When talking about a cool and satisfying natural drink, this definitely is the Fresh Coconut (Buko) Juice. This type of refreshment actually has different versions and it all depends on how you choose to enjoy it.
For me, I always prepare the fresh one without added sweetener and straight from the coconut shell. If ever you choose to add sugar, milk and ice, this is definitely possible as long as you enjoy this delicious and natural beverage.
Here is the procedure for Fresh Coconut (Buko) Juice:
- 6-8 pieces of coconuts (intended for buko juice with soft meat)
- Coconut shredder if available (a spoon can work as well)
- A large pitcher
- Large knife or Bolo (when opening the coconut)
- Ice cubes (right amount of the juice)
- 1 cup of white sugar (optional)
- 1 small can of evaporated milk (optional)
Using the Bolo, open all the coconuts individually and make sure to collect the juice in the pitcher. Afterwards, split open the coconuts and use the shredder to remove the meat and include in the collected juice.
When ready, add the milk, sugar and then mix properly and evenly. Be sure to taste the juice and must still taste natural without extreme amount of sweetness. Finally, add the ice cubes and stir gently until it cool and ready to drink.
Serve the Fresh Coconut Juice in the glasses and enjoy with the whole family…J
Remember that adding the sugar and milk is always optional because you can drink the juice naturally if you decide.
