If we talk about one of the Filipino favorite beverages for all occasion, this cold and enjoyable drink known as Black Gulaman and Sago (Tapioca Pearls) Cooler is the best choice, not only during summer months. In the Philippines, it is common to see different vendors on this favorite beverage bringing their containers and selling in on the streets. Definitely, this type of Filipino drink offers the exact sweetness and very thirst-quenching.
Here is the Procedure for the Black Gulaman and Sago (Tapioca Pearls) Cooler:
- 1 kilo brown sugar
- 1 can of grass jelly (black)
- 2 teaspoon of vanilla
- 3 pcs of pandan leaves
- 6 cups of water
- 3 cups of sago
In a casserole, add 2 cups of water then bring to boil for about 3-5 minutes, and add the sago (tapioca pearls). Stir constantly in a medium heat for about 3 minutes or until tender. Afterwards, set aside the sago to make cool.
Next is to open the can of grass jelly and cut into cubes to prepare.
The next procedure is to prepare the sugar syrup: Using the clean casserole, add the 4 cups of water then bring to boil for about 3-5 minutes and then add the pandan leaves. Afterwards, you can add the sugar, stir the mixture constantly and bring it to boil until the sugar is dissolved properly.
When everything is ready, combine the sago, black gulaman and sugary syrup in a juice jag or an available container. Add more ice to cool the beverages and mix well when serving to enjoy!
