We cannot deny that many Filipinos love eating noodles because of the great influence of the Chinese who had been part of the Philippines for the past centuries. These people did not just influence the Filipinos with the cultures, but also with the different authentic Chinese cuisines. Of course, one of the most popular dish they shared us is the delicious Beef Mami Noodle Soup.
This kind of dish has actually different types of cooking methods and the ingredients they use may vary, depending on the desire of those who will eat it. Some may want to include more vegetables and other add-ons such as toasted garlic, onion leaves, pepper and chicken or pork liver. Surely, it will all depend on the choices of the person who is cooking.
Here is the procedure for the delicious Beef Mami Noodle Soup:
- ½ kilo of Beef brisket (sliced thinly for the dish)
- 10 cups of water
- 3 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 6 pieces of eggs (boiled, peeled and sliced into halves)
- 1 kilo of Egg noodles (cooked and strained)
- 2 pieces of Beef bouillon cubes
- 1 large white onion (chopped finely)
- 10 cloves of garlic cloves (minced and toasted)
- 1 whole Chinese cabbage (chopped for the dish)
- ½ cup of Spring onion (chopped finely, but optional)
- 10 pieces star anise
- Salt and pepper to taste
In a medium pre-heated casserole, put the vegetable oil and sauté the onion for about 1-2 minutes. Afterwards, put the Beef brisket, sauté for about 5 minutes and then let simmer for about 10 minutes or until tender.
Next is to add the water then bring to boil for about 3-5 minutes before including the star anise and beef bouillon cubes. Allow the mixture to boil for 8-10 minutes before including the egg noodles, Chinese cabbage, salt and pepper to complete the taste.
When ready, transfer the cook dished in a large serving bowl, sprinkle the spring onion, toasted garlic and sliced eggs on top. Remember, you can add other toppings if you desire.
The amount of all the ingredients will also depend on the number of servings.
